Step into Texas Sunshine
To help you get a little fresh air during this time, we’ve put together a list of our favorite outdoor activities near Rayford Crossing RV Resort.
Spring Creek Greenway
Just across the highway is an ecological gem, the Spring Creek Greenway. With over 19 miles of forests, lakes, beaches and trails this large park is the perfect place to spend the day outdoors. The park features pavilions with picnic tables, a dog park, plenty of paved and natural trails for running, walking or biking as well as two lakes for fishing. Trails are open from 8 a.m. until dusk and pets are allowed so long as they are on a leash.
Shop local and pick your own produce at Atkinson Farm. Atkinson Farm is a family owned, fourth generation farm which grows vegetables on over 100 acres. Certain produce like beets, kale and onions are available year-round while others, like their famous strawberries are only available during the season. The farm is taking extra precautions to social distance, allowing only ten people in the store at a time and sanitizing after each group of shoppers.
Old Town Spring
Just north of the hustle and bustle of the busy Houston city life is the historic hideaway of Old Town Spring. Spring was settled in the 1800’s before Houston was established and many of the original buildings still stand. Today, the area is known for its array of antique shopping, boutique stores and one-of-a-kind dining. While some shops have closed, many remain open with limited hours and the restaurants are offering pick-up and to-go orders. Whether you’re looking for some unique shopping or just looking for a way to stretch your legs, swing by Old Town Spring, grab a coffee at The Liquid Bean and enjoy the quaint, historic town.
