ONE DAY TRIP

For the overnight trippers, there’s plenty to explore in 24-48 hours. Downtown Truckee includes several blocks of unique shops, cafes and restaurants as well as some wine bars for the evening and coffee shops for the morning.

Be sure to stop by Donner Memorial State Park for a beautiful morning hike, bike ride or stroll. The park includes over 8 miles of trails as well as a visitor’s center for the history buffs.

If you’re here for the day, you’ll want to take in some of the beautiful scenery around the campsite. Not to mention, the average summer day temperature in Truckee is 79 degrees, perfect weather for some outdoor adventures, while night temperatures average in the chill 40s, great for a snuggle by the fire.

THREE DAY TRIP

There’s no way we could mention a trip to the area without adding in a day at Lake Tahoe! Coachland RV Park it just minutes away from the northside of the lake and you’ll definitely want to set aside a day to spend out on the water.

Be sure to head out early so you can catch the sunrise above the lake at the Tahoe State Recreation Area. After that, the choices of how you spend your day are endless! Set sail on the water in your own boat or rent one from one of several boat rental sites in the area such as Rent A Boat Lake Tahoe. Even try your hand at kayaking with rentals from Tahoe Paddle and Oar.

After a long day in the sun, you’re sure to work up an appetite. Stop by some local favorite restaurants like Jakes on the Lake and Rosies Cafe or fire up the BBQ pit, accessible at the Coachland campsite.

FIVE DAY TRIP

For a longer stay with us, be sure to make a stop at one of the spectacular ski slopes in the area. No matter the season, many ski resorts offer activities for everyone to enjoy. Tahoe Donner Ski Resort prides itself on being the best place for beginner skiers, offering group and private lessons as well as youth and senior programs.

For the more experienced, visit Squaw Valley. This resort not only has some of the best winter skiing around but also has variety of summer activities too! No matter what time of year you plan your trip, a visit to the slopes is a nice addition to your bucketlist.

For a special night out with great food and cocktails, visit Wolfdales. Open on Lake Tahoe for over 40 years, Wolfdales is a mix of Asian and European food with a California twist. Plus, the views of the lake while you dine can’t be beat!
